WhatsApp is already the first place where many customers ask about price, availability or whether you can help them today. An AI agent can cover that channel around the clock, but it only works well if it is properly prepared. This article explains what it can do, what it should not do and what to have ready before you turn it on.
For many small businesses in Latin America and the United States, whoever answers first usually wins the sale. The problem is that messages arrive at night, on weekends or while your team is busy with another customer.
A well-configured agent can answer frequent questions (hours, services, service areas) using the information you gave it; ask for the minimum details of a new inquiry (name, need, urgency and preferred contact) and record them so someone on your team can follow up; suggest a time for a meeting and send the booking link; and alert a person when a request is sensitive or the agent is not sure.
Tito, our AI agent, answers on WhatsApp, Messenger, Instagram, Telegram, email and the web, so your customers can reach you on the channel they already use.
It should not invent prices, deadlines or terms that are not in its information; give legal, medical or financial advice; make decisions that commit your company without a person confirming them; or keep chatting when the customer asks to speak with a person.
1. A short list of real questions. Review your last 30 WhatsApp messages and write down the 10 questions that come up most.
2. Approved answers. Write each answer the way you would say it, with prices or options that are true today.
3. Handoff rules. Decide when it passes the conversation to a person (complaints, large quotes, sensitive data) and who answers.
4. Hours and booking. Make clear when a person answers and when the agent does, and which calendar it sends people to.
5. Consent and privacy. Tell people the conversation is handled by an AI agent and what data you keep and why.
Watch three numbers during the first weeks: how many messages were resolved without intervention, how many new inquiries were recorded outside business hours and how many turned into a booked meeting. If the agent answers well but nobody books, the problem is in the next step, not in the agent.
An AI agent on WhatsApp does not replace your team: it covers the moments when your team cannot answer. If you want to see how it would work in your business, book a meeting and we will set it up together.
